Incorrect language in scraped YouTube video titles and descriptions

Open

When scraping videos, the returned title and description fields are consistently provided in English, even though the original content on YouTube is published in Spanish. We have attempted to enforce Spanish by setting the Accept-Language header to es-ES,es;q=0.9 and appending ?hl=es to the URL in the startUrls parameter, but the scraper still returns metadata in English.

Expected behavior: The scraper should return the original title and description as displayed on the localized YouTube page (in this case, Spanish).

This issue affects the quality and accuracy of localized content and seems to bypass YouTube’s language preferences.

Hi, thanks for opening this issue!

Currently we only support the English language. The video title is getting the English translations as such. We will investigate retrieving the video titles and descriptions in other languages, as this is a feature offered by YT to add translations for your videos.

I will keep you updated here, thanks!

I understand. But in this case, the original upload language is Spanish.

Hi, thanks for an idea! For now we're working on other priorities, but if more people ask for this one in the future, we'll come back to it. But as of now I'm going to close the issue.

I have gotten the same issue. I'd like to scrap the original title but I get the English one.
