Since the change to results-based charging, the use of this actor has become highly uneconomically for us. We only need the email adresses and none of the other contact details - which can be plentiful - and still have to pay a lot for them. Please add an option that allows us to select which type of contact info should be scraped as a result.

Hi,

thanks for your patience and your request. We will discuss this feature internally and let you know of any updates.

Thank you. Our costs have increased by factor 8 due to the change and it is primarily driven by the results on social media accounts etc which are completely irrelevant to us. Apify worked great for us before but now we might have to explore other crawler options for our use case.

Hey,

Unfortunately, after a discussion on this issue it was decided that this feature will not get implemented due to its exploitable nature.

Thanks for your understanding.

Thank you for the update. Can you clarify what the exploitable nature of a simple filter feature would be? I do not see how a filter that allows you to select which type of contact information (email, phone, social) you want to scrape would be exploitable in any malicious form or way. I guess we will have to move on to another scraping platform soon then :(

With the introduction of this feature, a person could theoretically use this filter to only get for example "linkedIns", and intentionally select websites which do not contain any, which could then yield 0 results even after hours of runtime.

The issue is that this actor is now PPR (Price-per-result), so a customer with malicious intent could exploit this attack surface by creating nearly infinitely-lasting runs (which would not find anything) with multiple free accounts, which would only burden our servers and therefore would not be beneficial for us.
