Filtering by date & maximum number of queries
Closed
Hello, I recently ran a scrape to find a random subset of TikTok posts with the tag #science from June 1st, 2024 to June 1st, 2025. Instead, there are posts from 2022 and 2021 showing up and I'm wondering what the filtering criteria for this is?
I'm wondering:
- How does the date filtering on the scraper works, and how does the scraper determine which dates to scrape by?
- In this run, I got 700 results. Are these 700 results intended to be a randomly selected subset of the entire query?
I'm not sure so if someone could clear this up that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hello! The date filters only affects scrape on profile, not hashtags or keywords, unfortunately. We basically scrape this page: https://www.tiktok.com/tag/science. As you can see there is no sorting so it's impossible for us to perform a scrape with time constrains.
As for the order, it's usually the one you can find in the page, with minor fluctuations on large run because of parallel requests made by us.
I hope this clarifies a bit. I'll close the issue but please feel free to ask more questions if you want to!
